HAVE FUN & INSPIRE

Climb and discover

It is both fun and challenging to climb up snow covered mountains where there is not a human being around; only birds, foxes, and rabbits (well maybe more!!!)… It can be a sunny day, there can be a blizzard and dense fog but always it is so beautiful to be there negotiating with the nature and being a part of this amazing atmosphere…

And there is always more… If you are alone then it is both mind and physical strength that keeps you going and enduring the difficulties you face both on the way up and down the summit, the prize is that unmatched breath on the summit and the spectacular view and the feeling of achieving something outstanding on your own…

If you are a team, then it is sharing your mind and physical strength with your partner, every step off the way, and the matchless moments both up and down together…

There is always a lesson to learn in every climb and tour. In February 2012 when I made a solo day trip to Sandras Mountain in south of Turkey, skinning my way up, I lost my way by taking a wrong turn and found myself in the middle of a steep and dense forest, stubbornly kept going and finally ended up on a steep descent to a rocky creek… It was a spectacular ski down on fine powder snow, but alone it was dangerous since I was out of telephone coverage and a mistaken turn could easily drop me down to the creek and I could easily injure myself which would make it impossible for me to return. I of course ski down perfect and had a lot of trouble crossing the creek and climbed to the other side of the valley and finally find the route but lost more than a couple of hours and instead of climbing 6 kilometres, I had to round around the mountain for a total of 13 kilometres, almost totally wasted, not able to carry on to the summit, gave up at some point and return to the base where I parked my car, which was semi skinning and semi skiing.

Two critical decisions;

First one was not to return after the wrong turn and keep pushing alone encouraged by the good weather and my knowledge about the area which could had a very dangerous outcome at the end. Second one was evaluating the circumstances and not pushing to the summit at one point and returning back to the base since a summit attempt could easily finish my whole reserve energy after all the struggle in the long forest route, and the way back could be a big trouble and probably end up in late hours after dark, if possible of course…

Nature and adventure are what we love… We like to go alone, often, and it is a wonderful feeling to understand your limits and enjoy the beauty and difficulties of the nature, but one should always be prepared for the worst case and always ready to take the decision to quit…

Same year in March, we made a team climb to the same mountain with Gökçe, no mistaken turns, kept on the right route, helped each other to carry Gökçe’s heavy load (his snowboard), made 5-6 hours climb to the small summit, 2.000 meters and ski/board down the summit slopes and returned to the base safely, full of joy… When you are a team, things are easier, you keep an eye on your partner(s), share the difficulties, learn from each other, and since we are also business partners, it is our best environment to make strategic decisions for our business, one can say that oxygen opens up our brains!!!

Nature is calling and more adventure waiting for us, and for you as well… Solo or team, be prepared, know your limits, try not to lose ability to evaluate the environment and ever changing circumstances, there can be wrong decisions but be quick to understand and prepared to quit… Always plan the return when you are still on your way…

Nature is calling, never give up…

Windsurfing is a lot of fun

Windsurfing is a lot of fun, you are in deep blue waters, fighting with white capped waves, strong winds, currents that drag you away, the sun or the freezing cold sometimes, but it is always fun… Good for your body, good for your mind…

We are not the best windsurfers!!! Still trying to learn some moves that so many people does so easily, but we try. We love the struggle, we love the incremental achievements and know that there is still a long way we have to go…

We are out on the water with friends sharing all the fun but sometimes we are all alone on wild seas with all the fun; the songs the wind is singing for us, the portraits clouds paint on blue skies, the hammering waves crushing on us, sometimes a dolphin making a spectacular jump in front of us with a smiling face, on a few occasions a shark's fin wandering around... All belongs to us, alone…

Now we have plans to achieve something new for us, long distance crossings. Well at least “long distance” for us!!! Wait to hear from us for our next challenges… We have to prepare; body and mind and equipment!!!

All coming soon, this summer;

  • first crossing Karaburun-Foça-Karaburun, total 25 nautical miles
  • second crossing, Karaburun-Izmir-Narlıdere 30 nautical miles
  • third crossing, not figured out yet, but if we are successful with the first two then we will have ambitious targets and you will be surprised!!!

Wait to hear from us for our windsurf crossing stories this summer :)

RESTLESS GENES

Think of a tool, if you can use it well and have imagination, you think of more applications for it.  As you think of more ways to use the tool, you imagine more goals it can help you accomplish.

Sometimes you surf the high winds and deep waters, sometimes you surf unimagined solutions, all with the same tool :)
